The B.A. African Studies: Language, Arts, Philosophy is a unique, interdisciplinary programme that immerses you in Africa’s languages, literatures, philosophies, and arts. With a strong humanities focus unique in Germany, the programme places African languages at the centre of understanding African societies and knowledge systems on the continent and in the diaspora. Closely connected to the Iwalewahaus, the programme equips students with critical, linguistic, and methodological skills for global academic and professional pathways.

The M.A. African Studies: Language, Arts, Philosophy is an internationally oriented, interdisciplinary programme that provides a unique, humanities-driven approach to African studies. Designed around the study of African languages, the curriculum integrates Afrophone philosophy, literatures, Islamic studies, and Global African Arts. Located at a world-class research hub, it equips students with advanced methodological and practical skills for high-level careers in academia, cultural curation, and international cooperation.
